This year we’re doing things a bit differently, we partnered with the awesome people at Furman+Keil Architects who have generously provided a brand new space for Ernesto’s geometrical magic to happen: 2 weekends, 1 artist, all the love.
The festivities will begin on November 9th at Furman + Keil Architect’s new space, come and be one of the first to experience “The Flea and the Acrobat” plus some of Ernesto’s showstoppers, accompanied by our lovely sponsors Topo Chico, the always delicious Hendrick’s Gin & our one and only Pennyback Tonics ❤
Can’t wait to show you what we’ve been preparing for you, let the most exciting season in Austin Arts begin!
Can’t say enough great things about Akki. I don’t think I know anyone as positive, talented and hard-working; Whatever she imagines, she makes into reality, and it is always AWESOME. She draws, paints, sews, pastes, stands for your rights (to party and the important ones too ;P ) etc.
She’ll be representing #TheProjecto at the EAST Group Exhibition, and present at our 2 studios both days (Nov 18th & 19th), meeting you, sharing her impressive variety of art products and making you smile 😀
Oh and just for you to get an idea of the coolness of this artist, let me tell you that she has collaborated with all three separately, The Projecto, collective blue & The Audacity! No connection in between, just people looking for outstanding creatives, and getting to Akki’s territory, nice!
I’ve known artist Clint Roth for a few years now; A super creative, fun person to be around. One of those people that kind of can’t help it but create, he’s constantly collaborating, painting, making music, building, you name it… Even though, he’s based here in Austin Tx. we don’t get to enjoy his art too often, and we’re solving that!
He started doing art a few years ago, while he was designing the album art for his band, Big Jaw… “It started me on a track of trying to find a way to make compelling pieces in the simplest terms by using symbols from nature and pop culture and combining these symbols with basic elements of design and a limited color palette. At most, I hope my work would evoke a story or a feeling or even just a question in the viewer’s mind. At least, I hope it’s fun to look at.”
A crowd pleaser for sure; Last year he was one of the artists that had more traffic at our studio, so you’ll see 😉
We’ll have his art in both studios November 18th & 19th, so make sure to take some time in your day to see it and enjoy a drink or two too!
I’m a big fan of people who have strong opinions, take action and are open to learning and growth. These are some of the reasons why I love Nina and Regine from collective blue.
I started working with them almost a year ago, when they first started, by the way, today it’s their 1st anniversary (YAYYY!!!!). They’re having a fun party tonight, you can still get tickets here.
Anyway, I’m ecstatic to work with people like them, committed to being an active part of their community and helping everyone anyway they can, to be better and have a bigger chance in the creative scene.
At Studio 95, they’re taking part in coordination (Thank GOD!), and they’ll be present at the event promoting their brand and creatives, so you’ll get another chance to meet them and enjoy their cool vibes. If you’re lucky/smart you might even be able to talk business with them and accept the enormous challenge of walking by their side creating something new for all of us to enjoy.
Oh before I forget, Nina’s catering company, “Lemongrass” will be present at the 2nd venue, so come hungry! You have no idea the delights you’re going to experience 😉
Listen, I know I’m like a year late with this comment, but for all of you out there that, like me don’t have cable and recur to the glorious HULU as an entertainment provider, the 3rd (1 yr old ) season for one of my favorite TV Shows “You’re The Worst” just dropped (Or I just saw) and it brought me joy, laughter, a bit of anxiety and a revelation on an important matter: “Leg Washing”.
“Leg Washing” you say? YES, that’s what I just said.
On one of the episodes, the leading lady confesses to not regularly washing her legs. The conversation went like this:
“You don’t wash your legs,” asks Jimmy incredulously. “You take showers and you don’t wash your legs?!”
Gretchen responds: “No way, what am I? A sucker? … What am I going to do, like, bend down and wash my legs? Who has the time?”
This conversation was not only funny ’cause it is; but it was extra funny to me since I’ve had a similar conversation with my husband. LOL To Gretchen’s eloquent response I must add the irrefutable fact: “The legs wash themselves” HAHAHAHA. My husband, like Jimmy, remained incredulous as well.
So now I ask you: Is this normal? Like, do you do it too? You do, right? Because I thought it was a perfectly common practice until that conversation in my household hahaha and seeing it on TV made me feel better for sure. Now I want you to chime in and confirm. It is normal not to scrub your legs? It is! Right?
Yesterday I had a dream-like experience at the Bartholomew Pool called “My Park, My Pool, My City“, here in Austin, Tx. I’ve heard about the outstanding/unusual pieces by Forklift Danceworks but unfortunately, I’ve never seen it in action until yesterday. MIND BLOWN!
They choreograph, integrate, and create an experience that gave me chills, and made me shear a tear or two; the way they expose the everyday art, the common hero, it’s so simple and gorgeous!
What a delight last Sunday was! Not only did we enjoy ourselves with plenty of cold craft beers at the beautiful Axelrad Beergarden, we also got some nourishment with a slice of delish Luigis Pizzeria’s pizza (yes, by “a slice of pizza” I mean I didn’t even bother to count how many I ate). On top of that, we had the MEGA Pleasure of listening to Gabriel Santiago and two very special guests. It was PRICELESS! Sidiel Vieira & Thiago Rabello joined one of my favorite musicians and gave us an amazing, breathtaking afternoon ❤
It’s freaking magic when you can hear music being fabricated. The artists jammed, looked at each other, and knew exactly how to transport the entire audience at all times. We were delighted with covers and some new tunes from their new album “Traveler”. BRAVO!
Thanks to our lovely friends from Wonky Power for making this beautiful experience happen!
For all of those that were not able to attend and experience it live, I’m sorry, I wish you had. As I write this post looking at one of Greometria’s drawing I think it somewhat connects all the magic I was able to experience that day. I hope it touches you in a similar way.
