Fan Heartbreak

I came to the Day for Night festival for many things, one in particular made the sale, Björk. I have been a fan since I can remember, starting from Sugarcubes and going through almost every phase/album/project. I’ve never seen my idol perform live so even when it was going to be a DJ set I couldn’t be more excited.

Perfect execution… No lights, no projections, people leaving, while others asked when and where Björk was coming up (when she had already been playing on the stage right in front of them for more than 30 minutes).

The stage was practically submerged in a jungle. All the plants looked cute but covered her and all her greatness completely.

I was in the 2nd row, not even 6 meters from HER, and I still couldn’t see much. Even if you could find a gap in the vegetation, she wore an enormous yet gorgeous headpiece that covered the majority of her face. I even began to wonder if it was even her.

I’m not trying to speculate but honestly, it was that weird. Yes the music was as weird as I expected (not party like at all) and the goddess looked heavenly. Something was off, the screens for example :/

We couldn’t see HER.

When you pay $150+ extra for her, it is very very disappointing not being able to even recognize her.

I get and love every quirk, weirdness and whatnot but this experience, waiting this long, definitely heartbreaking.

I was lucky enough to go backstage, where I got to see a bit of her moving to the music, I bowed, waved “Bye” and I still wasn’t sure it was really Björk.

Regardless, I can’t wait for what’s next for #DayForNight, hopefully we’ll get more Art, Lights, Music and presences; as of Björk, sadly I don’t expect much more from her in this festival. 😦

EAST 2016, Beverly Kemp

art, austin, austin tx, entrepeneur, latin america, museums, reviews, texas, Uncategorized

Beverly Kemp is a unique Painter and Internet Sensation, people recognize her controversial & raw Art anywhere; Last year Bev and Gerardo Arellano were “Must See” EAST studio #6 by Do512‘s featuring an Ann Richards painting that brought a smile to everyone.

This year She’ll work again with #TheProjecto bringing new and not so new pieces to us!

Let me share you an excerpt of her bio that I love, and describes some of what you’ll see:

Reviewers and critics have described my work as ‘eye-popping’ and ‘Disney-fied.’ Yet, I find that my oils on canvas are more than screaming upside-down, inside-out point-of-view statements or cross-eyed observations of societal norms and women’s issues that shouldn’t be. As I age and wage an on-going battle with Parkinson’s disease, filling in another red dress comes easier and easier. Now, I know my paint is saying something. ❤

Hope You’re already convinced and drop by Studio #111!!!

🙂 XOXO

Mobley @ Festival de la Cerveza

I’ve been meaning to do this post, but a bunch of things happened in July that made it impossible; here it is finally! #FestivalDeLaCerveza all the wayyyy!!!!

A month ago we (Mobley) were lucky to go to perform at the “Festival de la Cerveza Monterrey” (Beer Fest Monterrey) and it was so much fun! We got the invite from our awesome friend Mike Ahumada aka Mike Volta from Jamming House (btw Mike was one of the first collaborators and team members at our agency and band incubator “Get Your Gig” <3).  We were ecstatic since we’ve heard about this festival and how it keeps getting bigger and better every year; this particular one was going to be held at the brand new Estadio BBVA Bancomer (Big Soccer Stadium) so we were all excited, and specially Alfredo who’s a big Rayados fan (the soccer team that plays there) any who, we were OOON!

The experience was super fun, it was great to see familiar bands, friends and that amount of beer & food all together ;P Mobley did awesome, people were dancing, singing, cheering and we also had a drunk guy performing for a bit (That is definitely not encouraged hahaha).

They even had a tiny tech glitch that no one even noticed because how well organized and professionals these guys are. A true pleasure to work with!

Im already waiting for the next one, be sure to follow my friends at Jamming House, they’re doing very interesting and different quality projects in Monterrey, Mx.

Here is a short https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FFestivaldelaCervezaMonterrey%2Fvideos%2F1315268655153526%2F&show_text=0&width=560“>video with some images so that you start planning for next year; yayyy!

*BTW Thanks to Jamming House for the pictures!

Cheers ya’ll!
