Mayra Silva (Monterrey, Mexico)
With over 20 solo exhibitions gracing spaces in Monterrey, Mexico City, and Paris and a collective presence in Mexico, Argentina, the United States, Spain, Israel, and Brazil—both in independent venues, public institutions, and printed publications—her artistic journey is a testament to a global canvas.
Her accolades include recognition from Reseñas de la Plástica Neolonesa, the Premio a las Artes by the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, Salón de la Fotografía Nuevo León, and the Bienal Nacional ARTEMERGENTE. Notably, she has been granted the FONCA Jóvenes Creadores award and has recently joined the esteemed Sistema Nacional de Creadores SNCA-Mexico.
Silva's work delves into the realm of words and writing, exploring their role in the exercise of memory across distinct temporal and geographical contexts. Each creation is a tangible expression of concrete concepts, designed to be embraced by the immediate surroundings of its presentation but also to resonate beyond its origin. Advocating for the freedom of experimenting with words—be it as an image, with its flaws, or through diverse publishing methods—she crafts art that defies the norms of conventional sales and production systems, expanding the frontiers of artistic possibilities across various media.
